What we do

We provide emergency aid to Christians and other persecuted groups in Iraq, as well as thousands of Iraqi Christians who have fled to Jordan to escape the violence. In addition to spiritual support we provide food, medicine and shelter. We work with partners on the ground, including churches, other NGOs and the UN, to ensure that aid reaches the most vulnerable. Through relief, we aim to bring reconciliation to the broken parts of the Middle East.

We have been blessed with the precious support of our partners and donors this year, enabling us to continue to relieve suffering, poverty and distress at a time of severe sectarian conflict in Iraq. We continue to have a highly respected reputation as a responsive and accountable Christian NGO, whose work on the ground makes a significant and positive impact. Our hope is that our work continues to support the persecuted church in Iraq, and helps build social cohesion and trust between communities that have been driven apart by war.

Statement from the FRRME Board of Trustees regarding the resignation of Canon Andrew White

It is with reluctance that the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME) has accepted the resignation of president and trustee, the Reverend Canon Andrew White. Canon White tendered his resignation due to his state of health and inability to continue his duties. Both FRRME and the American Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME America) are committed to carrying out the humanitarian assistance and reconciliation efforts underway in the region. Together, FRRME and FRRME America fund and oversee a free medical and dental clinic in Baghdad, relief efforts in Iraqi Kurdistan providing food, shelter, healthcare and education to thousands of displaced persons, and relief efforts in Jordan and elsewhere in the Middle East, providing food and clothing vouchers, rent assistance, healthcare and education. FRRME America has partnered with Catholic University Erbil to provide university education to displaced persons. FRRME Chairman David Harland said, “Canon Andrew White has been a towering figure in the Middle East for nearly 20 years, and we are indebted to his extraordinary vision, courage and hard work on behalf of the persecuted and downtrodden. We wish him the very best.” FRRME America Chairman Scott Rye said, “The work of FRRME and FRRME America has grown exponentially in the last two years since the rise of the so-called Islamic State. The need is greater than ever. Thanks to Canon White’s early work in the region, the foundations were in place to provide much-needed assistance.” With the continued support of donors and friends, FRRME and FRRME America will continue to provide life-saving assistance, healthcare and education to those who have been marginalized by war and poverty. The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East is a UK-registered charity founded in 2005. The American Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East was formed as a 501(c)(3) corporation in 2009.
