Faiz, who used to work in a factory producing car parts, says that from an early age he dedicated himself to studying the gospel in order to share the message of God’s love with his co-workers. Faiz studied at Baghdad’s Theology Institute and also travelled to Lebanon to continue his theological studies before the 1976 war brought him back to Baghdad.
Faiz has been married to his wife Nawal since 1995 and they have three children. For security reasons the family currently live in a flat within the St George’s compound.
St George’s Church in Baghdad is part of the Anglican Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, with sister churches in Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates of the UAE, Aden, Qatar and all over Cyprus.
Our work at St George’s is also supported by the Jerusalem and Middle East Church Association (JMECA), a registered UK charity, that supports the churches throughout the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East.
