The Bell of Baghdad Chimes after Twenty Years’ Silence

It was a momentous and joyous day recently when the congregation of St George's Church, Baghdad, led by the Reverend Canon Faiz Jirjees, gathered in the church courtyard to hear chimes ring out from the belfry—for the first time in 20 years.

The bell of St George’s calls the faithful, reaching out across the city and reminding those in need—of all faiths—that the church provides for the people of Baghdad.

Political and economic instability have impacted lives across the whole of Iraq, with poverty and persecution creating cumulative layers of inequality for minority communities. Thanks to your support, St George's Church is helping bring humanitarian aid to those in desperate need as well as enabling Canon Faiz to continue his ministry of peace and reconciliation.
