The Bell of Baghdad Chimes after Twenty Years’ Silence

St George's
bell-3-enhanced-476
The new bell is installed at St George's and serves as a reminder to all who hear its chimes that the church is there to share God's love to all in Baghdad
It was a momentous and joyous day recently when the congregation of St George's Church, Baghdad, led by the Reverend Canon Faiz Jirjees, gathered in the church courtyard to hear chimes ring out from the belfry—for the first time in 20 years.
The bell of St George’s calls the faithful, reaching out across the city and reminding those in need—of all faiths—that the church provides for the people of Baghdad.

Political and economic instability have impacted lives across the whole of Iraq, with poverty and persecution creating cumulative layers of inequality for minority communities. Thanks to your support, St George's Church is helping bring humanitarian aid to those in desperate need as well as enabling Canon Faiz to continue his ministry of peace and reconciliation.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our recent appeal for St George's. Your support means that Mosaic Middle East will be able to continue distributing monthly food relief to 100 families; providing urgent medical treatment for those who cannot afford hospital fees; supporting vulnerable Christians through church support groups; funding Rev'd Canon Faiz Jirjees to continue his ministry of peace and reconciliation among faith leaders across Iraq and the Middle East; enabling St George's to remain an oasis of grace in Baghdad and a symbol of hope for persecuted Christians throughout the region.
